Rick Manglinong has been training since the 1970s in several arts, including Filipino “boksing”, western boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Kenpo Karate, Shotokan Karate, Freestyle Wrestling, Judo, Eskrima (Serrada), and Silum Pai Kung Fu. He began training in Tae Kwon Do in the early 1980s and eventually earned a 5th degree black belt.
He was promoted to 9th degree and awarded the rank of grandmaster in Kombatan by Great Grandmaster Ernesto Presas at the 2007 IPMAF World Camp and Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Philippine Martial Arts Hall of fame and received the Kampilan Award. He is also a 6th degree black belt in Modern Arnis.
